After successfully launching rockets few moths ago, SpaceX prepares new mission. The company’s founder Elon Musk just announced ambitious plan to send two citizens on a private trip around the moon in 2018. Citizens have already paid a significant deposit to do a moon mission and for now, they are anonymous to the public. This will be the first time after more than 45 years that people travel to the moon unless NASA or some other space agency do it before SpaceX plans. Lucky passengers will be the part of Dragon spacecraft crew and they already take necessary health and fitness tests.

Like the Apollo astronauts before them, these individuals will travel into space carrying the hopes and dreams of all humankind, driven by the universal human spirit of exploration – Elon Mask

Commercial spaceflights companies such as SpaceX or Blue Origin stepped up in a big way into “rocket science” mostly thanks to their fast development of reusable rockets. In 2012 SpaceX delivered cargo to International Space Station, which was the first time that such a thing was done by a private company. Further, they continued to collaborate with NASA and currently working on the Crew Dragon, spacecraft designed to transport humans to the ISS. In general, private spaceflight companies are leading our charge into the cosmos.

So it isn’t surprisingly, that such companies offer private space flights. SpaceX founder Elon Musk claims that private space travel could be “a significant driver of revenue,”. As for the first citizen’s mission to the moon, Musk revealed that it will take a week, traveling about 300,000 to 400,000 miles. The craft will do a long loop around the moon, without landing on its surface. The civil passengers are aware of the risk of this spectacular trip, but Musk assures that they will take all necessary step to minimize this risk.

SpaceX said that Nasa has encouraged privately crewed missions, saying that through them “long-term costs to the government decline and more flight reliability history is gained, benefiting both government and private missions”

Musk hopes that this mission will contribute to the ultimate SpaceX goal of sending people to Mars and establishing permanent Mars colonies. After all, achievements which they have accomplished provides them a strong foundation to believe.
